The Power Station timber sale was a large logging project south of Sequim that targeted post-fire, naturally regenerated legacy forest containing significant old-growth remnants and multiple known marbled murrelet nest sites. Just weeks before the sale was scheduled to be presented to the Board of Natural Resources for approval, the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition documented a rare plant community within the project area. The Washington Natural Heritage Program verified these findings, determining that 92 acres of the 144-acre sale contained rare ecosystems. The project was canceled in its entirety.
