Our Impact
Since 2023, the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition has worked tirelessly to protect Western Washington’s last remaining native forests from industrial logging. Using citizen science, grassroots organizing, legal action and government watchdogging, LFDC has kept approximately 2,000 acres of forests standing tall—and we're just getting started!

Forests saved with people power: 1,200+ acres
As a direct result of our grassroots campaigns, state-level negotiations, and coordination with regional Tribes, county officials, and partner organizations, nearly 1,300 acres of formerly threatened legacy forests remain intact today.
Forests protected with science: 700+ acres
LFDC's field staff have been identifying imperiled and critically imperiled plant communities in state timber sales since 2024. Our findings have led to the protection of more than 700 acres of these rare ecosystems. With hundreds of additional acres reported and pending the state's verification, this number is only expected to grow.

Clearcut logging plans canceled: 30+
Our campaigns and scientific surveys have prompted the cancellation or indefinite delay of over 30 proposed timber sale units on WA state lands.
CO₂ emissions prevented:
677k to 1.1 million metric tons
