Rocky cliffs and bald outcrops distinguish these forests from the rest of the Kistap Penninsula.  LFDC has documented multiple occurrences of a globally imperiled plant community in this area.  Plans drawn up by LFDC staff call for the protection and restoration of 520 acres of unique, native forests in the Tahuya Headwaters.
