About the event
Often called the crown jewel of the Issaquah Alps, Tiger Mountain is one of Western Washington's most ecologically and culturally vital places. Its complex native forests are favored by mountain biking enthusiasts, old-forest-dependent bird species, and everyone in between. Today, these forests are at imminent risk.
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has several timber sales planned for Tiger Mountain, including "Red Osier" which is scheduled for auction in April 2026. The 65-acre proposal would clearcut one of Tiger Mountain's easternmost native forests before converting the area into yet another homogenous plantation. Like the recently canceled South Paw timber sale, Red Osier threatens the ancestral homelands of the Snoqualmie Tribe.
On Saturday, December 6th, join LFDC for an engaging, awareness-raising hike to Red Osier!
