About the event
Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Chehalis Tribe, the Sherman Creek Legacy Forest in Capitol State Forest is one of the largest complexes of naturally regenerated forest remaining in the Black Hills. This vital ecosystem is home to huge, second-growth Douglas firs and western redcedars in an area once protected as marbled murrelet habitat. The Department of Natural Resources recently auctioned off large parts of the forest in the "Cake Walk," "Carrot" and "Evergreen Gold" timber sales. Fortunately, the trees have yet to be logged—for now—as the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition (LFDC) appeals all three sales in court.
Please join LFDC and South Sound Bird Alliance on Saturday, June 21st to experience the Sherman Creek Legacy Forest firsthand, connect with others, and learn about ways to get involved!
