Come see the Waddell Creek Legacy Forest Walk in Thurston County. DNR is planning to clearcut this forest in the “Sparrow Hawk” timber sale in 2025. DIFFICULTY: MODERATE One-mile round trip hike off-trail.

About the event

Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Chehalis Tribe, the “Sparrow Hawk” timber sale threatens the coastal "Waddell Creek" legacy forest. This reparian forest is home to massive  douglas fir and western red cedar, the timber sale is scheduled for auction in May 2025.

Please join us on, July 21th to visit the sale and raise awareness for our Legacy Forests.

Where: We'll meet at the Salt Creek Recreation Area.

When: 10:00am-1:00pm, July 21th, 2024

What: The hike will be approximately 1 mile round-trip off-trail.

Please bring water, snacks, shoes to hike in and the appropriate layers in case of rain.
