Eagle Cove Legacy Forest Walk

Come see the Eagle Cove Legacy Forest in Clallam County. DNR is planning to clearcut 182 acres of this forest in the “Birds Eye View” timber sale in 2028. This forest is on the banks on the San Juan Sound. DIFFICULTY: MODERATE Four-mile round trip hike. Trail is steep in places.

About the event

Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Lower Elwha Tribe, the “Birds Eye View” timber sale threatens the coastal "Eagle Cove" legacy forest. This coastal forest is home to old growth douglas fir and western red cedar, the timber sale was originally scedualed for auction this year but was delayed to 2028.

Please join us on Saturday, May 11th to visit the sale and raise awareness for our Legacy Forests.

Where: We'll meet at the Salt Creek Recreation Area.

When: 9:30am-12:30pm Sunday May 11th, 2024

What: The hike will be approximately 4 miles round-trip and all of it will be on trails, most of the walk will be hiking to and from the timber sale.

Please bring water, snacks, shoes to hike in and the appropriate layers in case of rain.
