About the event
Located on the Usual and Accustomed lands of the Chehalis and Squaxin Tribe, Capitol State Forest is one of the most well known and frequented state forests in Washington. Just 41 acres of forests in Capitol State Forest are formally protected in forest reserves, and without intervention all legacy forests in Capitol State Forest will be logged in the next 15 years. On this hike we will visit one of these legacy forests, which is being targeted by the "Lizard Lounge" timber sale. We will also talk about the need for a science-based plan to conserve and restore Capitol State Forest. During the hike we will pass through the "Chameleon" timber sale which was auctioned off in 2020 and has since been logged. You will witness the direct impact of DNR's policies and see their logging practices firsthand.
Please join LFDC and the Center for Responsible Forestry on Saturday, September…
